Supporting the vascular therapy market
Some vascular devices like guidewires require strong, high-fatigue materials to navigate tortuous paths, while devices such as stents need to possess corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. From straightened wire to Nitinol shape-set parts, we make materials to your specifications so you can design exactly the device you need to take on smaller and more challenging applications.
Typical end uses
Our customers leverage the enhanced mechanical properties of our products in a variety of vascular therapy devices, such as:
- Angioplasty catheters
- Atherectomy devices
- Embolic protection
- Guidewires and diagnostic catheters
- Guiding catheters
- Septal defect repair and other occlusion devices
- Stent grafts
- Stents
Alloys
Here's a list of alloys we commonly work with and use in a majority of the products purchased by our vascular therapy customers. If you don't see the alloy you want to use for your application, contact your Sales Representative for assistance with your request.
- 35N LT™ alloy strength, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, and good biocompatibility
- 302 stainless steel identical to 304V in chemical composition except for higher carbon content, 302 has a higher tensile strength
- 304V stainless steel vacuum arc remelted, 304V has more uniform chemistry with less tensile strength than 302
- 316LVM stainless steel uniform chemistry and improved microcleanliness increases corrosion resistance over 302 or 304V
- Custom 455® a soft, formable material that hardens with heat treatment for increased tensile strength
- FWM® 1058 corrosion resistance, strength, fatigue resistance, and high elastic modulus
- L-605 high-strength properties at elevated temperatures along with good oxidation and corrosion resistance
- MP35N® strength, good biocompatibility, and corrosion resistance
- Nitinol (binary and ternary) superelastic and shape memory performance in precision wire and components
Additionally, here are alloys we're familiar with, but if you want more information, please reach out to your Sales Representative.
- 22Cr-13Ni-5Mn austenitic, nitrogen strengthened steel combining corrosion resistance comparable with 316 stainless steel, and greater strength
- TiBeta3 high-strength beta alloy with good hardenability, good resistance to stress corrosion, and good cold-formability
Products
Our customers use the following products in vascular therapy devices.
- HHS® tube improved torqueability and kink resistance, plus an open working channel
- Shaped wire specialty shaped cross sections
- SLT® wire straightness, grindability, and torque transmission to help streamline production
Services
If your customized material needs further processing, we can help by offering the following.
- Coating includes electrical insulation, chemical separation, and improved lubricity
- Laser ablation removes coating from a wire, allowing the exact amount of exposed material to be customized for your application
